Dr. Ashish Mesepam
My name is Dr. Ashish Mesepam and I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We thought it would be a good idea to introduce ourselves so you could get to know us better.
I was born in India and moved to the US before my second birthday. Our family settled down in the DMV. Some of you may be wondering why I lived in the Department of Motor Vehicles? Those of us who are from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region refer to the area as the DMV. Consider yourselves educated!
I’m the eldest of two, my brother and myself. I enjoy watching Disney movies, cooking ethnic foods, and playing sports.
My early formative years, and really the majority of my life, were spent in Maryland; it’s where I’d call home. Once I got to college and beyond, my academic career took me on quite the journey; opportunities to live in California, Dominica, and Michigan were life-changing.
Traveling during my graduate internships was the norm. I was able to go back to my home state of Maryland, then up a little further north in Michigan, then Colorado and lastly Indiana.
Experiencing different parts of America and observing each region’s unique culture was such a blessing and helped me grow as an individual. After graduating from graduate school, my wife and I moved to Texas, which is where we reside now.
My wife and I had accrued a substantial amount of debt over the years with our formal education and were saddled with the burden of a collective six-figure loan. This led me to dive deeply into personal finance and figure out strategies to become debt-free in as little time as possible. I became a self-proclaimed, self-taught, personal finance guru by immersing myself into all the books and articles that I could get my hands on.
With our personalized game plan in hand, my wife and I were able to pay off our six-figure debt in 15 months after starting our first job. That was such a liberating feeling! People were curious about how I was able to accomplish this goal and started asking me to give them advice. I assisted them with forming their own game plans for tackling their personal finances. I found that I absolutely enjoyed helping people through situations with the knowledge that I accumulated.
The questions that came my way weren’t limited to finances alone, they grew into questions about managing relationships and interpersonal communication. Let’s face it, money and relationships almost go hand-in-hand. I was delighted to find out that all the classes that I had taken in school, all the books I had read, and all my personal experience could benefit others in their personal struggles.
In my professional life, I treat my patient’s as a whole not just a part of the whole. I’ve found that by utilizing this holistic approach, I get very good results. People are multi-faceted and struggle to manage all life’s components but if I can help you along the way in your struggles with fitness, finances, and family then I’m ready to.
And that’s how Fit, Wealthy, & Wise was born, through education, expertise, and passion.
