Building Blocks for Extraordinary Living
The path to an extraordinary life is one that most seek, but often have little insight on how to achieve. Billboards, magazines, featured articles, and movies often present examples of what an extraordinary life might look like. The act seems easy enough, but far from reach. Day dreaming seems to be more common these days than taking action. Sometimes we may give a shot, but more often than not we end up convincing ourselves it is not for us, it’s just not in our cards.
Close your eyes for a minute, picture such a lifestyle – what it would look and feel like to live in your version of an extraordinary life. Do you have it? For some it is traveling the world, for others it is starting their own business, and still others imagine a life free of stress spending loads of time with those they love.
There is a problem though… the culture we have built as a society in-prisons us and dictates how we live our lives.
We are constantly in a hurry to get somewhere, do something, or simply stay afloat. Observing people walk by a street corner almost gives you a sense of anxiety. You can see it in their faces, body language, even tone of voice; the urgency and stress.
We tend to live busy and chaotic lives, and rightfully so, there is so much to do. Days become stretched thin, and do not allow for everything to get done. Each day we push through in hopes that we will make it to the end of the week. We look forward to those measly two days we call the weekend; our reward. It’s sad that in trying to keep pace with our environment we start to neglect important aspects of our lives, or are we simply distracted? Either way, we forget that the pillars we erect today will be our foundation for the future. Somewhere amidst the chaos we have forgotten the basics.
Neglecting to build a solid foundation today, puts our future success and happiness in jeopardy – waiving the opportunity to build that extraordinary lifestyle we spoke of earlier. Eventually, we start to feel the symptoms of our fast paced lives – then frantically seek a quick fix.
In attempt to keep up with the world around us we have started cutting corners and creating shortcuts. We have stopped looking at a person holistically; meaning body, mind, and soul. We dissect ourselves and separate each element, addressing the one we think needs fixing, and neglecting the others. The result is an inefficient and short-term solution.
Getting Back to the Basics
We here at Fit, Wealthy, & Wise are confident that a more permanent solution is centered on a holistic approach. Unfortunately, we humans are not mindless machines that can be compartmentalized. Thus, we believe that fitness, wealth, and wisdom are elegantly intertwined, multi-faceted elements critical to our lives.
Fitness, wealth, and wisdom are the pillars we build our lives upon – they position us to bring our dreams and aspirations to life. These pillars are constructed with elements of health, finance, relationships, and enrichment of life; elements that play crucial roles in our day-to-day. While each is uniquely different from the other, we guarantee they have more in common than you think.
For instance, fitness carries with it a picture of health (mind, body, and soul). The endless benefits of maintaining good physical health is well known and documented. Good health will not only lead us to physical fitness, but because our body systems are all connected, it will also put us on the track towards achieving fitness of the mind and soul.
Wealth is often associated with the realm of finances. Finances – although not the most important as some might think – is vital when trying to build yourself a stable and stress free life. Learning to be good stewards of our income can play such a huge role in living out our dreams, having the opportunity to help others, and creating a sense of security. Being financially stable is conducive to a healthy psyche.
Lastly, wisdom can be dissected into multiple facets. The two we highlight are: the ability to create and nurture healthy relationships, and using our experiences to enrich our lives and those around us. These two elements serve to bring about change in us yes, but also in our families, our communities, our countries, and ultimately this world we call home. Wisdom has the ability to lead us to spiritual and intellectual growth, challenging the status quo, and contributing something great to humanity.
It is evident that that these three basic pillars share the common ability to edify us and those around us. If used correctly, it will allow us break the cycle and take control of our lives again. It is only then that we will begin to set ourselves up for an extraordinary life. Finding this balance may be hard at first, but with practice, the hardship you face now will be nothing more than a distant memory.
